My Story

I grew up in Colorado, but got to the great state of Texas as fast as I could! I am a third-generation SMU Mustang who loves Dallas because of what God has done in my life during my time living here.

I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home and was baptized at the age of eight. When I was eleven, my father suddenly passed away (Psalm 68:5). Since losing my dad was so out of my control, I told God I believed in Him, but I was going to control my life to make sure my safety and security were never ripped away from me again. This led me to run after everything the world said would bring safety, I went to a good school, chose a good degree, and got a good job. As I was graduating from college in 2010, though, my obsession with control caused my life to be marked by anxiety and emptiness.

Around that time, a sorority sister of mine invited me to join a community group. This was a major turning point in my life as I began to walk with women who sought to follow God in all areas of their life. I had to face up to my sin that controlling my life meant I was not trusting God and living in the freedom He provides (Matthew 6:25-34). Through community, I began walking in authenticity, sharing my struggles, and receiving biblical counsel.

Over the past decade, I have seen God work in unbelievable ways! I've had the joy of working as a CPA, moving overseas for missions, working at Watermark Community Church in the Connecting ministry, and now at Onward.

In my free time, I love traveling home to see my family or with friends, playing pickleball or board games, finding the new coffee shops, and enjoying time with people!
